While contemplating his career goals in high school and college, Ryan tried his hand at filmmaking. He directed two documentary shorts, "Lovability" (2014) and "Julia" (2010). Though he is not currently pursuing filmmaking professionally, he wouldn't rule out the possibility with the right cinematographer and technical crew. He remains passionate about documentaries and the power of film as a medium for nonfiction personal narratives. 



Ryan takes a video camera into gay bars to find out if men are open to dating someone with a disability. Along the way, he interviews individuals with varying disabilities about their romantic experiences.
